- Finch: Pay once, use forever. Finch+: Subscribe monthly, cancel anytime.
- Don't share your license or reverse engineer the app
- You're responsible for your API keys and third-party costs
- We provide the software "as is" - no guarantees of perfection
1. Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Finch ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the Software.
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.
2. License Grant
When you purchase a Finch license, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to:
- Install and use the Software on devices you own or control
- Use the Software for personal or commercial purposes
- Receive updates for as long as we provide them
The license is tied to your email address and may be activated on a reasonable number of personal devices.
2b. Subscription License (Finch+)
When you subscribe to Finch+ ($10/month), you receive:
- Unlimited transcriptions via managed cloud service
- No device limits - use on all your devices
- Optional: bring your own API keys for direct provider access
Your subscription renews automatically each month. You may cancel anytime through your Stripe billing portal. Upon cancellation, your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period.
Free plan users (5 cloud transcriptions/day, resets daily) may upgrade to Finch or Finch+ at any time.
3. Restrictions
You may not:
- Share, sell, or transfer your license key to others
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software
- Circumvent or disable any license validation mechanisms
- Use the Software to violate any laws or infringe on others' rights
- Redistribute or create derivative works based on the Software
4. Third-Party Services
Finch integrates with third-party services (Groq, Deepgram, OpenAI, etc.) for transcription and AI processing. When using these services:
- You are responsible for obtaining and securing your own API keys
- You are responsible for any costs incurred through third-party APIs
- Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies
We are not liable for the availability, accuracy, or security of third-party services.
5. Payment & Refunds
Payments are processed securely through Stripe. All prices are in USD unless otherwise stated.
Due to the nature of digital software with immediate license delivery, we generally do not offer refunds. However, if you experience technical issues that prevent you from using the Software, please contact us within 14 days of purchase and we'll work with you to resolve the issue or provide a refund.
We reserve the right to change pricing at any time. Price changes do not affect existing license holders.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- • Merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose
- • Accuracy or reliability of transcription results
- • Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- • Compatibility with all systems or configurations
Transcription technology, including AI-powered services, is not perfect. Always review important text before use.
7. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- • Loss of profits or data
- • Business interruption
- • Costs of substitute services
- • Errors in transcription or text processing
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Software license.
8. Termination
Your license continues indefinitely unless terminated. We may terminate your license if you:
- • Violate these Terms of Service
- • Share or distribute your license key
- • Attempt to circumvent license validation
Upon termination, you must stop using the Software and delete all copies.
9. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation or, if necessary, binding arbitration.
